VINCENT FONDALE

Vincent Fondale, of Cleveland, began singing at the early age of 2.  Vincent took delight in putting on mini concerts for his daycare buddies and teachers in the toddler room at Holy Family. Since then, he has been singing to his hearts desire for all his family, teachers and classmates. We think his charm keeps him out of trouble sometimes!

Vincent debuted with his Dad’s band, Nostalgia Cleveland, in June of 2005 at the Parma Rib-n-Rock.  At the age of 5, he sang Lights, by Journey, twice at the request of the crowd.  That same year, Vincent sang again with Nostalgia Cleveland at Clay’s Park Rock-n-Resort in Massillon.  When Vincent gets in front of the microphone, he draws crowds of people to the stage.  Every Festival he goes to that has karaoke; he packs the tent with people.

In January 2007, Vincent auditioned for a Reality TV Show called Finding Julian's Band.  Julian is a 2 yr. old drummer looking to form a band with children 10 yrs of age and under.  Vincent is a finalist for the show to debut in the Fall 2007 or Spring 2008.  Details are forthcoming.  For more information, visit www.harmonienetwork.com.   For more information on Julian, visit www.littledrummerbaby.com.

Vincent is now 7 yrs. old and has stunned many people with his voice.  His favorite band is Journey and can sing many of the favorites, including Lights, Don’t Stop Believin’, Faithfully, Stone in Love, Open Arms, When You Love a Woman, Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', and Anyway You Want It.  Vincent is also fond of Styx, Boston, and Bon Jovi.

Since the audition, Vincent performed at the Cleveland Agora on March 25, 2007 as an opening act to the 2nd Annual Cleveland Icon Perseverance Awards hosted by The Cleveland Entertainment Coalition (www.clevelandec.org).  He performed with the other Reality TV Show finalist, Alex Raz, an extremely talented 9 yr. old guitar player.  Vincent performed 3 songs - Lights, Don't Stop Believin, and When You Love a Woman

The Cleveland Icon Perseverance Awards  2007

This event, the second annual, once again took place at the Agora and was hosted by the venerable “Host of the North Coast” - Peanuts (who still won’t reveal his real name).

The Cleveland Entertainment Coalition puts on a truly worthwhile event, but unfortunately, it’s still a well-kept secret. Their mission is to honor longtime veterans of the local music scene, including musicians, media, and behind-the-scenes movers and shakers. But more people are needed to shake things up and get their mission moving. President Londi Viccarone told me he needs more volunteers, particularly concerning this event. So if anyone is interested in being involved in this noteworthy organization, go to their website at www.clevelandec.org

Although the crowd Sunday night was lean at times, the music and the distribution of awards was entertaining, and the many reunions among friends created a party-like atmosphere.

It also gave you hope for the future musical generation. The first band that played, Nostalgia Cleveland featured a young boy, Alex Raz, who was just nine years old. He started things off in true rock-and-roll style by playing guitar like Jimi Hendrix (he did a near-perfect rendition of  “Star Spangled Banner” - not an easy feat at any age) and then, out came 7-year-old Vincent Fondale, who did a medley of Journey songs and he was absolutely amazing. Not just his voice, but his whole demeanor - he worked the crowd (who couldn’t take their eyes off of him) like a true professional at the top of his game. Wow.

I’m going to do a Jane Scott right now (for those who recall this veteran Cleveland rock reporter proclaiming Bruce Springsteen as the next big thing, back when most had never heard of him). So Remember the Name – Vincent Fondale. He’s going to be a star…
